• Incase is not a standard English word. In some cases, it appears as a misspelling of word “encase” which means “to cover or enclose something.”

Definition and Meaning of “In Case”

The phrase “in case” is used when we talk about preparing for a possible event or situation. In simple words, it means that if something happens, or as a precaution.

• Take an umbrella in case it rains.
• Keep my number in case you need help.
• I left early in case there was traffic.

These examples describe possible events, situation,s or precautions. Therefore, the phrase “in case” is always used as two words when expressing precaution or planning.

What Does Mean By Incase?

Incase is not a correct word in standard English. 

The only situation where you might see the word incase is an incorrect spelling of encase. Encase is a different word which means that to cover something. However, this is not the same as in case and that is why they have completely different meanings in English.

For Example:

• I took a jacket incase it got cold. [Incorrect]
• I took a jacket in case it got cold. [Correct)

Here are some correct examples of “in case” used in different situations:

• Take an umbrella in case it rains.
• It will call you in case I need help.
• He took extra food in case he got hungry.
• We arrived early in case of delays.
• Kee some sach in case the card machine doesn’t work.

These examples show that “in case” is always two words and is used for preparations.

The difference between incase or in case is that in case is the correct phrase and incase is the misspelled form of in case. Therefore, you should always use two words “in case”  instead of one word “incase”.
